Jason Kovacs, BA, MAB

Dir. / Biblical Counselor

Jason has completed a Graduate Certificate in Pastoral Leadership from The Bethlehem Institute and a Masters of Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary. His aim as a counselor is to help each client encounter the Redeemer, who alone can transform hearts. Jason is a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors.

Areas of specialty include: Marriage, adoption related issues, parenting, depression, anger, anxiety, addiction, stress, and work related struggles. He has been blessed by an amazing wife and 5 incredible children (4 of whom are adopted).

Amy received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary. After moving back to Texas she pursued career opportunities in both the secular and non-profit faith-based worlds, in order to gain a variety of experience. Amy is committed to integrating spiritual truth and practical technique. She is married and has a daughter.

Her areas of interest/experience include: premarital and marital counseling (communication, conflict resolution, roles, intimacy issues), family issues, life transitions, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, spiritual issues, physical and sexual abuse survivors, eating disorders and parent-teen conflict. Amy has received specialized training in working with foster/adopt families through TBRI®.

After graduating from Baylor University, Paige went on to receive a Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary. The program emphasized the importance of integrating psychology and theology which has proved to be essential as a counselor. Paige believes that ultimately through the love and grace of Christ, there is hope and change for every human being, regardless of their history or experiences.

Paige has experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, adolescents, spiritual issues, college-age identity issues, life transitions, addiction, family systems, and eating disorders.

Jessica received her BA in Psychology here in Austin at the University of Texas and went on to complete her Masters degree in counseling licensure at Denver Seminary. Jessica and her husband returned to Austin in 2009 to pursue their interest in counseling and recently became new parents. She is passionate about seeing people’s lives change as they gain a greater awareness of who they are and who God created them to be.

Jessica has experience and interest in working with: missionaries, marriages and couples, issues of intimacy and sexual brokenness, post-partum depression, parenting, family of origin, college students, life transition, self-worth, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and body image, and faith issues. Jessica is an LPC Intern under the supervision of Theresa Hodge, LPC-S (1106 Clayton Ln, Ste. 528W, 78723).

Steve received a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. He has worked as both a therapist and clinical supervisor at various mental health settings in Austin and is licensed to practice by the state of Texas. He is passionate about integrating the truth of the Gospel and the transforming love of our Savior into all aspects of the person's life.

Areas of specialty include: premarital and marital, men's issues (including spiritual, life transitions, anger, anxiety and depression), parenting, family of origin issues and substance abuse. Steve and his wife Kate have been married since 1980, and have been recently blessed with two grandchildren.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. degree in psychology, Liz continued her education with a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Through her time at Covenant, she learned that all people have dignity and depravity and she is passionate about working with the whole person in counseling.

Liz has experience working with relationship issues, identity issues, mental, emotional and sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, family-of-origin issues, eating disorders, multi-cultural counseling, spiritual issues, life transitions, and marital counseling. Liz is and LPC-Intern under the supervision of Gene Kummerer II, LPC-S (1300 West Lynn St, Ste. 214, 78703).

After receiving a BA from Concordia University Texas, Michelle attained a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Michelle is passionate about seeing broken relationships restored and walking with people as they learn to understand themselves and others through the truth of Scripture.

Michelle’s areas of interest include: marital counseling, family counseling, families with adopted and/or foster children, children ages 7–12, caregivers of special needs children or adults, and women struggling with past or current issues of unplanned pregnancy. Michelle has received over 100 hours of training in TBRI® from Karyn Purvis at the TCU Institute of Child Development. Michelle is an LPC-Intern under the supervision of Emily Slaughter, LPC-S (3409 Executive Center Dr., Ste.210, 78731).

After receiving a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree in Marketing from The University of Texas, Val pursued positions in banking, finance, and domestic tax preparation. Within her various roles, Val has worked with brand management, investor relations, and market research/analysis.

In 2009 Val joined the team at The Austin Stone Community Church as a member of the Care and Counseling ministry. She has developed new training and development strategies for both volunteers and professionals within the counseling ministry. Currently, Val is acting as the Director of Marketing for The Austin Stone Counseling Center.

Church Partnerships

It is our conviction that the most effective context for long term, lasting transformation is the local church. Therefore, we seek to develop deep partnerships with local churches.

Our church partnerships are about relationships. Currently there are three ways that we relate to our church partners:

In counseling we partner with local churches to provide care for members and individuals where the church finds it difficult to handle. Our aim in each referral is to involve the church as much as possible in the counseling process. We do this primarily through our Advocate model.

Connecting Icon

We are committed to helping our counselees get connected into their existing community and we also help churches develop new community.

Consulting / Conferences Icon

We offer consulting, training, and conference opportunities for our church partners so that we can see as much counseling return to the local church as possible.

In order to provide the best biblical care possible to our counselees and the best training for churches we have partnered with these organizations:
